Why are we slackers?

Good afternoon friends and family. Today is a new day. I am very blessed to be able to serve the Lord. Today I am writing to express something which has been penetrating my heart. The question I have is why are we slackers? I would like everyone to think for a minute. I want you to think about all your material possessions. How big is your house? How big is your TV? How many cars do you have? What type of car do you have? Think of anything you possess.

Now, here is the next thought. How much are those possessions worth? Ok, now that you have a total, I am going to answer that question for you. The total value of those material possessions is 0. As with anything of this world, those things cause only heartbreak. Thieves kill, and steal for those possessions. Also, think about people who do without the simple necessities. I am talking a plate of food, a roof over the head, clothing. The bare necessities. Why is it that we will buy a $20,000 car just because it looks good, when someone could have used half of that to buy a car and the rest given to people who need housing?

It is time for us all to step up. We are the Body of Christ and as the body we are failing. We are failing miserably. We are on life support. We are badly in need of a transfusion. Our hands are not reaching. Our arms are not hugging. People, I realize money does not grow on trees. People need more than money. Time is also a precious commodity. Many people do not need money. Many people just need someone to come over once in a while to help clean. Many people just need someone to watch their child so they can work. So, you see people, money is not everything. Time is also sweet.

God has given us the ability to help in the community. Let’s not waste these gifts. Everyone has a gift they can offer. Some people are computer whizzes. Some people know how to fix a car. Some people know how to listen. Let us use our gifts in the community. Let God look upon our gifts and smile. Let him look down on us and be pleased. For right now he is not pleased because we are slackers. I apologize if anyone gets offended because of this note, but it is true and we all need to do our part to strengthen our communities. I love you all and hope this note causes you to ache like I am and try using your gifts to make us all better. For the Lord knows I am not perfect. For I fall short just like everyone else. I am a sinner, as are we all. But, forgiveness is a feeling that is great. God’s forgiveness is the reason we are all here. Let us love one another and give freely.

God Bless,

Pastor Big L
